ABOUT THIS PIECE

This drawing was created from a pose developed by one of the participants in actors workshop lead by Lee Osorio, a part of a the Drum Major Project which was artistic components for the reenactment of Dr. MLK Jr.’s funeral procession in Atlanta on the fiftieth anniversary of the event,

There was something so powerfully vulnerable in the seated pose, created from the phrase “Fear without power.” I added the veil and overlaid it on top of the inky background. I feel very emotional about it without necessarily the words to express what I want to say here.

This piece was the second experiment with mixing the figurative with an abstract background, and part of the early works in the “Expansion Series“
