Live the Legacy II — at the Center for Civil and Human Rights
Live the Legacy II is a 8’ x 32’ mixed media mural created for the Center for Civil and Human rights. An equal collaboration between all the five members of Living Melody Collective artists (Angela Bortone, Jessica Caldas, Angela Davis Johnson, Danielle Deadwyler and Haylee Anne). The piece is heavily textured, sculptural and layered literally and thematically.
The piece explores King’s fluid focus in his later years of exploring housing affordablity, homeless and human rights. Live the Legacy II connects Atlanta’s history with Dr. King to the current housing affordability crisis and rampant gentrification as well as the displacement of homeless people from Peachtree Pines.
